Special places for special people...

What do your school grounds say about the value placed on the needs of the whole child?  Does your nursery garden really enable high quality play?

The outdoor spaces at schools and settings are unique: they fulfil many functions, change through the seasons and the years, and research by Learning through Landscapes shows that children love their outdoor spaces and feel that outdoors at their school or setting is where they have the most freedom, and the most control over their environment.

We believe that children deserve the best possible learning environments, indoors and out.  There are many barriers to the provision of high quality outdoor spaces and high quality learning experiences – but we can help your school or setting overcome these, working with you to establish priorities, identify funding sources, plan for change and ensure your projects are sustainable.

Our fully participative design service is led by qualified landscape designers and our only objective is to ensure your investment in change provides the best possible learning and play outcomes for your children.  Once you're happy with the design, we work in partnership with local, experienced landscaping contractors to provide a bespoke service for your school or setting.

We aren't affiliated to any equipment or resource suppliers,

and the only thing we're selling is our own expertise and experience.

Please get in touch to find out more about how we can work with your school or setting community to develop outdoor spaces that work as hard as you do to support children's learning, play and emotional wellbeing.

Vision Values outdoor play early years

Our design philosophy is based on the Shared Vision and Values for Outdoor Play in the Early Years.

All of our projects support these principles, so in working with us, you can expect to develop

spaces that provide

children with

opportunities for

challenge and high

levels of physical

activity; spaces full

of natural elements

and features that

children can own,

adapt and occupy freely.
